hi followers. i need to vent a bit.
i miss reading so much. i miss being so engrossed in a book that i don’t care about my actual life and focus more on a book. i miss iroquois reads and always having a list of incredible books to read. i miss being in that group and talking every tuesday morning about books we’ve read. i miss mrs kibbler and mrs kulpa. i miss how they let a few choice kids, myself included, raid the new shipments of books before they were even processed. i miss living in my school library and people coming up to me asking for advice on what to read. i miss working at the elma library. i would always skim through books before i shelved them, and would often check books out before i left for the night. this summer all i want to do is read. but no. i need a job. and it won’t be at the library, and there aren’t any bookstores close by.
damn school and actually having to have a life. it all really cuts into my reading.
Heyyy, I started following your blog a while back but I realised that you'd stopped updating. But in that time I flicked through your archive and read your reviews for the books you posted about and I was intrigued by every single one so I went out and brought them :D I knew they'd be good 'cause I had already read some of the ones you had up so I knew the others would be to my taste. They were well worth it so I guess I just wanted to say thank you! :) & also I just saw your today's post and I've read some of the ones you're aiming to read, The Great Gatsby and the Life of Pi you'll definitely enjoy :)
yay! i can’t even tell you how happy your message made me, and that you enjoy what i post! i’m so so excited for the life of pi and everyone raves about gatsby. i really hope i have time to read a ton this summer and to post as much as i can. what was your favorite book out of the ones you bought? just curious :D
I’M BACK!
after my first year of college and endless homework, i finally have time to read again!
this summer i’ll be reading more “classic” novels, and also some historical/political works.
thank you all for following me and i’m so sorry i’ve been running this so sporadically, but to give you guys a bit of a heads up, on my plate for this summer is…
fight club
helter skelter
shogun
everything is illuminated
to kill a mocking bird
catcher in the rye (rereading)
life of pi
great gatsby
and so on…
also, i’ll probably be changing my url too so sorry if that confuses anyone!
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
If you’ve seen the movie I suggest you wipe it from your memory. The movie did the book no justice at all. This book was a new view of heaven, and showed exactly what tragedy does to not only the victim but those who love them. It’s filled with emotion and wonder and I loved reading this book almost as much as I hated watching the movie.
why must we ruin good books by turning them into crappy movies?
my goal:
this semester ends for me next thursday, and i have an entire month off from school.
SO. it’s my goal to read three new books and post them on here.
i really wish i had time to read more so i could add a ton of books to this site =\
i feel like i let you guys down!
<3 Kate
SO! I’ve managed to actually read a book this semester :P
Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins
This book is the final installment of the Hunger Games series. It honestly was my least favorite of the three books. A lot of the book was depressing, and just really down. The final climactic scene took the sci-fi aspect of the series a little too far for my taste. Don’t get me wrong I love a good sci-fi book, but for this series I think Collins pushed the sci-fi too far.
Overall it was an enjoyable read. I still completely suggest reading the entire trilogy. It’s a thrilling ride and I wish I had the time to read them all again :]
Well, Since I’ve been at school this is all I’ve read…
Kingdom Strange by James Horn
I read this book for my America to 1876 class, so needless to say its a historical text. This book sums up the before, during and after the English attempt to colonise American. Also, it deals with who, what, when, where, why, of EVERYTHING. It’s soaked in facts and was sometimes hard to read but if you’re a true history buff I suggest this book. I learned a lot from it and was really interesting at times.
Once again I apologize for my lack of posts. Stupid college.
hi guys!
i just wanted to apologize for my lack of posts. my summer got really busy and i’ve been at college now so i have no time to read. but i will post about the books that i read for school. i’m sorry! hopefully i start to get some free time so that i can at least finish mockingjay! once again, sorry :[
love, kate.
The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
First things first: it’s quite different than the movie. In the book you learn SO much more about Andrea’s life and her family and friends. Now the reason I’m tumbling about this book is because it was the first book I read after the Harry Potter series, and I see it as my “springboard” into the world of reading.
Anywho, Andrea Sachs is looking to be a writer, but ends up becoming the assistant to Miranda Priestly, editor and chief of Runway magazine. The catch is that she’s bossy and mean as hell. Its an entertaining read full of life in NYC, fashion, and gossip, but it doesn’t go much deeper than that. If you’re looking for a fun, light novel that comes with a few laughs and an entertaining storyline, I suggest this book.
